BLOODY MARY
by Ed Warren and Tom Daley
MARY BECKETT has been given a new identity, new face, new eyes, new hair; because Mary is on the Witness Protection Programme.
The sister of notorious serial killer Edgar Beckett, Mary may have done time for obstructing justice - but she has always
denied complicity in her brother's murders.
Mary has already been firebombed out of one safe house in London. Now she has
been given a run-down cottage in the peaceful village of Blackwell, and two local policemen, PETER HERNE and JOE RIDLEY, to guard
her. She is introduced to them as SARAH JOHNSON.
Joe is both shocked and excited to learn her real identity: Sarah is more
excitement than the village has seen for a long time. But when Sarah arrives she seems broken, frightened and confused, someone
to be protected rather than feared. However, Peter's sympathy for her only brings contempt from his increasingly cold wife,
ELLEN. Ellen and Peter's marriage has gone downhill ever since their daughter was killed in a car crash when Peter was driving.
And for some time now, Ellen has been having a secret affair with Joe.
But Sarah's life is not destined to be peaceful for long.
ALEKS LUDWA, the father of one of the young Russian women killed by Edgar, has come to England; and arranged for Edgar to be murdered
in prison. Now he is determined to find Sarah.
As Peter becomes increasingly infatuated with Sarah, risking his career
and marriage, their lives, along with those of Joe and Ellen, are thrown into turmoil. For at that very moment Aleks,
intent on revenge, is heading their way.
